To explain music to you, who cannot hear, might I use my poem here? Poetry attempts to convey the unheard melody--- actual music in poetry is heard differently. Why a minor chord sounds sad can be explained, but if unable to hear, my sad explanation will make no impression, I fear. A sweet, sweet melody has to be heard as sweet to be understood. Counting a sequence of beats silently might picture harmony but honestly that's paltry. Explaining music won't do any good. If we lie against each other, and know the vibration and warmth of the body, music, cold and clear, is more out of reach. Music? Sight and touch wonder what the problem is. No one knows what music is. Not the foolish novelist who dances. Nor this poem which hints at what it is.
