Too many sounds and noises in the light
means she cannot sleep at night.
She cannot enter the dark peacefully.
She continues to see.
How shall I sleep? With my arms just so?
To learn to sleep is not to go
to sleep. If I know
I’m dreaming I know I’m there.
Sleeping by dreaming. Desired but rare.
In the mundane day, sounds come, unbidden.
Life talks. Sleep’s treasure is hidden.
The paradise I wake to find
Is sleep. My soul holding my heart
on the other side of my mind.
Death saves. But sleep is a start.
